**Job Summary:**

As our Senior Ergonomics and EHS Engineer, you are responsible for leading the Ergonomics and EHS Programs to build a proactive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) culture. This role supports all aspects of the EHS Management System at Johnson& Johnson MedTech locations in the Bay area, CA as well as other J&J locations in California. As an influential member of the different leadership teams, you will collaborate with internal business customers and domain authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and implementation of innovative EH&S techniques to identify EHS risks proactively. This position will be based ON-SITE at Santa Clara, CA.

**Key Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):**

Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

* Ensures a high level of EHS performance, with Ergonomics focus, for the site(s).
* Provides technical expertise to ensure compliance in the areas of workplace ergonomics, general industry safety orders, Johnson and Johnson worldwide environmental health and safety standards including Management of Change, hazard assessment techniques, accident investigations, and emergency response planning.
* Helps employees prevent repetitive, cumulative and overuse type musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses.
* Conducts ergonomic analyses in order to provide recommendations on job set up, work posture, tool use, and workstation modifications.
* Gains full understanding of the site operations, workflow, processes, and employees in order to make recommendations for preventing musculoskeletal injuries from occurring.
* Partners with local management to develop and implement a site CAPA process to address EHS program deficiencies and ensure EHS regulatory compliance.
* Brings global best practices into the site and actively share site perspective, knowledge and lessons learned to contribute and support a best-in-class professional level of EHS globally.
* Sets and monitors goals/objectives/assignments, provide adequate coaching/counseling to site functional leaders on EHS programs/ processes via dashboards & reports.
* Performs analysis for reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies and J&J's corporate offices as appropriate and/or required.
* Performs routine EHS assessments, utilize the J&J Program Reviews, Assurance Audit, and Self Assessments to identify program specific deficiencies and areas of risk.
* Leads incident investigations for all reported incidents, injuries, including First Aid and Good Saves.

**Qualifications:**

**Education:**

* Minimum Bachelor’s or equivalent University Degree required; advanced degree or focused degree in Ergonomics, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Occupational Safety and Health, EHS, Engineering, Science or related field preferred

**Skills & Experience:**

**Required:**

* Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
* Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) experience with emphasis on Ergonomics, Risk Assessments, Management of Change, Chemical Management etc.
* Experience identifying, evaluating, and controlling EHS risks in the workplace
* Ability to collaborate with local EHS professionals and support additional multi-site EHS resources
* Proficient in MS SharePoint and MS Office software programs
* Ability to quickly interpret complex regulatory issues and provide recommended course of action
* Ability and willingness to travel to other locations

**Preferred:**

* Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) certification
* Manufacturing/R&D experience in a highly regulated environment; Relevant experience in consulting will be considered.
* Technical/working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations
* Technical experience in diverse EHS areas of air, water, hazardous and medical waste, and/or chemical handling
* Experience with ISO 14001/ ISO 45001 EHS Management Systems and Certification
* Demonstrated project management skills

**Other:**

* Requires 10% - 20% domestic and international travel
* The anticipated base pay range for this position is $ **89,000** to $ **142,600**

**External Interactions:**

* Conducting and hosting all planned and unannounced internal and external inspectors and auditors according to the requirements in the site-specific procedure.
* Responding to and reporting to external complaints and inquiries according to the site communications policies and procedures.
* Corresponding with regulatory agencies to acquire, modify and renew permits required by federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

_Additional Description for Pay Transparency:_

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
